Campisi LLP Giving Back: The Life-Saving Impact of Plasma Donation

At Campisi LLP, our dedication to helping trauma victims extends beyond legal advocacy. As a firm committed to making a difference, we’re thrilled to partner with Canadian Blood Services to contribute to the life-saving world of plasma donation. Our team recently pledged to donate plasma, a gift that can make an immediate and powerful impact on patients who are in critical need.

Why Plasma Matters for Trauma Survivors

Plasma, the liquid component of blood, comprises about 55% of our blood's volume and plays a crucial role in transporting nutrients, proteins, and hormones throughout the body. For trauma patients, burn victims, and individuals in severe shock, plasma can be a vital resource in their recovery. Here’s why plasma is so essential:

  1. Blood Volume Support: Plasma helps maintain blood pressure and volume, which is critical for trauma patients at risk of shock.
  2. Blood Clotting and Immunity: Plasma contains proteins that aid in blood clotting and support immune function, crucial for people with bleeding disorders or compromised immune systems.
  3. Nutrient Transport: Plasma helps transport electrolytes to the muscles, promoting proper cell function and recovery.

In the hands of medical professionals, donated plasma can be frozen and stored for up to a year. This life-saving resource is often used directly in hospital transfusions, where every donation has the potential to support patients at a critical time.

What to Expect When Donating Plasma

Plasma donation is safe and straightforward. In a plasma-only donation, blood is drawn and processed through a machine that separates the plasma from the cells. The donor’s red blood cells and platelets are returned, making the process less taxing and leaving donors ready to donate again within a few days.

Our team members at Campisi LLP are dedicated to this mission. By participating in plasma donation, we aim to give back in a way that directly supports trauma survivors and helps those facing serious medical conditions. We encourage anyone who can to consider donating plasma. Together, we can make a meaningful difference—because every donation counts.
