CURRENT OPENINGS

PERSONAL INJURY PARALEGAL / LAW CLERK

Leverage your plaintiff personal injury or insurance defence experience to do more satisfying and groundbreaking work.

Core Focus:

  • General file handling and management (on Tort and Accident Benefits files)
  • Preparation and drafting of correspondence and legal documents (including motion records, Statement of Claim, pre-trial/mediation memos, pleadings, affidavits of documents, etc.) for filing and service
  • Managing undertakings and refusals
  • Managing calendars (scheduling examinations for discoveries, mediations etc.)
  • Daily communication with clients and third parties in a professional manner
  • Mediation, Trial and Arbitration preparation
  • Drafting and maintaining file summaries
  • Detailed review of all medical documentation
  • Work on all aspects of liability, financial and medical investigations required to present a consistent case in a straightforward manner
  • Prepare for examinations for discovery, case conferences, mediations, IBC and other insurance conferences, motions, appeals, pre-trial conferences, trials, and mediations/arbitrations and other hearings at the LAT, etc.
  • Prepare cases for settlement negotiation

 


The Must Haves:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and interest in personal injury law
  • Experience working in a fast pace environment running 100+ files
  • Extensive knowledge of the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS)
  • Knowledge of Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Familiarity of all OCF forms
  • Client-centric focused with a proven passion to make a difference
  • “Roll up the sleeves” workflow and practice approach

PERSONAL INJURY LAWYER

We seek individuals who are dedicated towards advancing the rights of regular individuals and not billion-dollar corporations.

  • Provide candid, strategic advice to a diverse range of clients
  • Positively engage your team and conduct regular file reviews to effectively plan and manage each case
  • Draft a range of documents including facta, opinion letters, settlement conference memoranda, pleadings and various applications
  • Conduct legal research
  • The opportunity to work on all aspects of a case including liability, financial and medical investigations

CAMPISI’S SECOND-YEAR SUMMER PROGRAM

Get an early start

Campisi LLP is a different kind of personal injury law firm. We dispel the “ambulance chasing” stereotype, by representing individuals with catastrophic injuries, and those with permanent and serious impairments. Our lawyers are exceptionally talented in their advocacy and in advancing the rights of disabled individuals as demonstrated by our numerous published decisions.

We are looking for 2-3 bright, ambitious, and hardworking 2L students to join our team. We seek individuals who are dedicated towards advancing the rights of regular individuals and not billion-dollar corporations. A demonstrated interest in personal injury law, and/or litigation is preferred.

Our second-year summer program allows students to get hands on experience with most aspects of file handling and management by directly assisting our lawyers. At the same time, students will experience our firm culture and environment prior to the start of their articling year. You will experience challenging, hands-on, and meaningful work that will serve as a foundation for your legal career.

What does the Summer Program Entail? 

During the summer, you can expect opportunities to complete work of various degrees allowing you to develop a broad range of skills and experience working with a variety of people. This includes drafting pleadings, memorandums, and observing litigation events. Our program is designed to deliver consistent access to interesting and challenging work, quality mentoring, exceptional training, and regular formal and informal feedback.

When are Articling Decisions Made?  

Students from our Second Year Summer Program receive priority for Articling opportunities. We work to notify students as early as possible during the summer.

What will be my Salary? 

Students will receive $1,200 a week and 4% vacation pay.
